Double roller press granulator: What makes it so efficient?

2025/09/30

For organic fertilizer granule production, the  double roller press granulator, with its features of "no drying required and fast forming," has become the preferred equipment for many international fertilizer plants. Its efficient operation is inseparable from the perfect coordination with other fertilizer equipment, forming a worry-free granulation production line.

Before granulation, the raw materials must be "polished" by pretreatment equipment. The composted organic fertilizer powder often contains impurities. A  drum screener machine removes gravel and coarse fibers to ensure a fine material. If the powder is unevenly moist, a  double axis mixer adds a small amount of water or binder in appropriate proportions to adjust the material to a state that "clumps easily when held in the hand and disintegrates easily when squeezed."These are the optimal feeding conditions for the double roller press granulator, preventing problems such as "sticking to the rollers" or "loose pellets" during granulation.

When it comes to the core granulation process, the double roller press granulator is a true "fast worker." Pre-treated raw materials are fed into a hopper and evenly conveyed by a feeder between two counter-rotating rollers. The patterned surfaces of the rollers squeeze the raw materials into thin flakes of uniform thickness. Subsequent crushing and screening processes instantly transform the raw materials into pellets with a diameter of 2-6 mm. The entire process eliminates the need for high-temperature drying, saving energy while preserving the active ingredients in the organic fertilizer. This makes it particularly suitable for producing bio-organic fertilizers, making it particularly suitable for farmers abroad who value the natural properties of their fertilizers. The finished pellets then undergo further quality control. A grading and screening machine separates unqualified fine particles from oversized ones, returning the crushed materials to the mixer for recycling, eliminating any waste. Finally, a belt conveyor transports the qualified pellets to the finished product bin or directly to a packaging machine for weighing and packaging.
