Preventive measures against agglomeration of NPK fertilizer

2021/05/03

The agglomeration of compound fertilizer not only affects the quality of the product, but also brings a lot of trouble to farmers in applying fertilizer. The following NPK fertilizer production equipment manufacturers talk to you about the preventive measures of compound fertilizer agglomeration:

1. Double drying process is adopted

During the NPK fertilizer production line, the particle size and moisture content of the raw materials must be strictly controlled. Because the particle size distribution of the raw materials is closely related to the particle size of the finished fertilizer, and the moisture content of the raw materials will also affect the moisture content of the finished product. Therefore, the degree of humidification in the granulator should be strictly controlled according to different raw materials, and the return ratio should be strictly controlled.

2. Add appropriate amount of inert powder

A layer of inert inorganic powder, such as diatomaceous earth, kaolin, talc, etc., is wrapped on the surface of the compound fertilizer particles. The characteristics of these inert substances are that they can adhere well to the surface of the compound fertilizer particles, do not absorb water, and are completely inert to the product, thus reducing the hygroscopicity of the compound fertilizer particles.

3. Add appropriate amount of inorganic salt stabilizer. The effect of adding stabilizers is mainly to prevent the transformation of crystalline modification or to shift the transformation temperature in a certain direction.

4. Use surface active agent as anti-caking agent
Surfactants are classified into cationic, anionic, nonionic, and amphoteric surfactants. Surfactant can change the surface tension between solid and liquid. Its anti-caking mechanism: (1) Surfactant forms a coating on the surface of crystals to produce a mechanical isolation effect between crystal grains; (2) Surfactant Adsorbed on the crystal surface to form a hydrophobic layer, which hinders the water exchange between the crystal product and the atmosphere, thereby inhibiting the dissolution and recrystallization process of the crystal surface; (3) Surfactants can reduce the surface tension of the solution and the contact between solid and liquid Angle, thereby reducing the capillary adsorption force of the crystal material to the solution.

5. Reduce the bagging temperature and reduce the stacking height and time
The dried granules of NPK fertilizer production process equipment are not sufficiently cooled for bagging and storage, which may easily lead to agglomeration of compound fertilizer, so the compound fertilizer, must be fully cooled before packaging. Generally, the packaging temperature is below 45°C. In order to prevent the particles from breaking, the stacking height should be reduced. Usually 10-layer stacking is used to minimize the number of product loading and unloading.
